Chartered Building Surveyor

£35,000 - £50,000

Location: Barnes SW13

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This role has been developed in response to rapid growth in the company’s client base and areas of operation. This opportunity would be ideal for a project focused Chartered Building Surveyor with a desire to grow and develop to move to the next level in their career. The successful Building Surveyor will be responsible for undertaking a mix of instructions including; contract administration, defect diagnosis, planned preventative maintenance and design and specification writing.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies.

  • Undertaking a variety of surveys and inspections including; residential and commercial building surveys, building regulations & planning permission, reinstatement cost assessment for insurance, stock condition surveys, health & safety and design.

  • Preparing and producing specifications for works, schedule of conditions, tender and contract documents.

  • Coordinating members of the team and project stakeholders.

  • Acting as Employer's Agent and Contract Administrator.

  • Site visits, assessments and projections for future work.

  • Writing reports and preparing documents (plans, contracts, budgets etc.).

  • Developing client relationships seeking new and repeat business.

  • Analyse site activities; preparing progress reports.

  • Advising on and acting in accordance with the Party Wall Etc Act, as an appointed surveyor.

  • Advising on and acting in accordance with CDM Regulations.

Person Specification

  • Must be Chartered - MRICS/ FRICS status.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience involving Building Surveying, Employers Agent and Contract Administration procedures.

  • Strong IT skills in AutoCAD and Microsoft Applications (Advanced Excel).

  • Can provide support and encourage further development; takes time to coach others. Clearly and comfortably delegates routine tasks and decisions to junior team members, shares both responsibility and accountability.

  • Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job to a high level of accomplishment; makes effort to keep up to date in the field and to acquire new knowledge.

  • Has the drive to exceed goals set; able to perform duties consistently at a high level; perseveres and works through barriers. Steadfastly pushes self and others to achieve positive results.

Assistant Project Manager

£25,000 - £30,000

Location: Barnes SW13

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Project Manager will work under an experienced Bishop & Associates Project Manager. Together you will manage a number of projects in the London area ranging in values from 100K to £2M. The projects are primarily refurbishment of high quality private residential flats and houses in the Kensington and Chelsea area and the successful candidate will be involved from start to completion.

This role is ideally suitable for someone who is looking to gain experience in project management in the construction industry.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Attending and taking minutes of monthly project meetings.

  • Liaising with the Project Team and consultants to organise site meetings and follow-up meetings with subcontractors.

  • Coordinating and taking minutes of specialist subcontractor meetings.

  • Maintaining all drawings and information on site and distributing to all relevant subcontractors.

  • Maintaining and recording all site records with the Site Manger.

  • Maintaining approved contractors list including checking insurances and that all information is up to date.

  • Working with the Project Director on daily site issues.

  • Assisting in procurement of subcontractors.

  • Compiling the relevant information for the O&M Manuals & H&S file.

Person Specification

  • Graduate in a building related degree.

  • Competent Microsoft Office user.

  • Experience of using AutoCAD

  • Good communicator.

  • Well organised with excellent attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.

  • Flexible and able to multi-task.

  • Able meet deadlines.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This opportunity would be ideal for a recent graduate with a desire to grow and develop, learning from experienced Building Surveyors. Bishop & Associates will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to learn all the skills to become a competent, well rounded Building Surveyor.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Initial site surveys of buildings and writing reports on the existing condition of the building, listing defects and recommending proposed scope of works.

  • Assisting surveyors in preparing specification of works and tender documents for the external and internal repair and redecoration of the buildings.

  • Sending out tenders and analysis of contract documentation and pre-start information for all contractors.

  • Contract administration of the works consisting of attending site meetings, agreeing variations of interim payments and the agreement of the final contract sum.

  • Party wall matters acting for both building and adjoining owners.

  • Landlord consent matters and Licence for Alterations.

  • Acting as CDM Principle Designer.

Person Specification

  • Recent Graduate in a Building related degree

  • Good attention to detail

  • Able to competently use Microsoft Office (included intermediate Excel).

  • Ability and desire to learn AutoCAD

  • Able to take direction and learn from peers

  • Good organisational skills and ability to plan workload

  • Good communication skills across all communication channels

  • Able to pick up new skills quickly and manage a flexible and diverse workload
